What the role involves

  • Get-ins, get-outs and turnarounds at venues across the region
  • Staging, rigging support, set builds and general technical crew work
  • Weekend, evening and overnight calls alongside daytime work
  • Local and national travel — there is no fixed work location
  • Shifts from half a day up to several consecutive days

Pay and terms

  • From £15.50 per hour, rising with role, shift type and unsocial hours
  • Sub-contractor / freelance basis
  • You choose which projects to accept — no minimum commitment
  • You must already be registered as self-employed, or be willing to register

What we’re looking for

  • Safe and effective manual handling technique
  • Confident use of hand tools and power tools
  • Reliability on timekeeping and attendance — this matters more than anything else on the list
  • A clear communicator in English, so briefings and safety calls are understood on a noisy site
  • The ability to work efficiently alone and to take direction from a crew chief
  • A positive attitude, good humour under pressure, and courtesy towards crew and clients
  • Smart presentation and fitness to work on every call
  • Willingness to learn new skills on the job

Useful but not essential

  • Forklift or telehandler licence
  • PASMA ticket
  • IPAF licence
  • Carpentry or set construction experience
