Knots will come into everyday use when you work in theatre.
The most popular knots are:
- Reef Knot – For tying two even diameter ropes together
- Clove Hitch with a half hitch – An easy to tie/untie binding knot with many applications
- Sheet Bend – For tying two uneven diameter ropes together. Identical structure to the Bowline
- Bowline – Easy to tie/untie. General use loop knot that tightens under strain. Note: This knot may work loose when not under load
- Single Figure Eight – Used commonly in theatre as a stopper
- Double Figure Eight – Strong loop knot that won’t work itself loose when not under load
- Truckers Hitch – Tightening knot for securing loads in many situations.
